Blog: Using Coffee to Teach Business!
Do you know what's trending right now? Young businessmen and women! More and more often there are stories in the news about young people starting businesses…and some are REALLY successful! There are others that are less successful though, and those are the ones that we're going to talk about today.
The theory is that those students that are experiencing less success than others often don't have access to real world, hands-on educational opportunities. In an effort to remedy that, Berres Brothers is working with another local company, Gold Star Coffee Service, to bring a new sort of education to high schools in the area. In this pilot program, Gold Star is working with the Business Education programs within schools to set up mini retail coffee spaces within the school stores. These stores will be run and managed by the students in conjunction with both the Business and Special Ed programs. Students, staff, faculty, and visitors will be able to purchase fresh cups of Berres Brothers coffee right inside the schools! The stores will offer brewed coffee in the flavors that we all know and love, and will follow the seasonal trends just like anywhere else that you can purchase your favorite Berres Brothers coffee.
In it's first year of operation, this program is currently up and running in six Wisconsin High Schools (Sun Prairie Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School, Sun Prairie High School, Waukesha West High School, Sussex Hamilton, Whitewater High School and Edgerton High School).
